ClearNav UK

ClearNav UK has been set up to retail and support ClearNav products in the UK, with a particular emphasis on the ClearNav Vario (the CNv).

Currently the CNv is one of gliding's best kept secrets and we hope to change that and help promote it worldwide.

ClearNav Instruments

The original ClearNav MFD was developed and sold by Nielsen-Kellerman who specialised in producing sports-related and weather instruments. The hardware and software for that was developed by some of the old CAI team (Phil Schlosser, Chip Garner). A prototype variometer was also under development in 2010 with work done by more of the old CAI team (Dave Ellis, Phil Schlosser).

When Richard Kellerman sold his interest in NK, he retained the gliding related products and he and Tim Welles set up ClearNav Instruments.

The team have gone on to develop the ClearNav, the variometer (now the "CNv") the ClearNav II.

As a matter of interest:

• The motherboards for the ClearNav products are now designed and manufactured in the UK
• There are plans to move all production to the UK
• To this day, ClearNav are probably the CAI legacy and Gary Kammerer still repairs legacy CAI products.

Apart from running ClearNav UK, developing the CNv, doing lots of test flying he also:

• was UK 18m champion in 2003
• loves Competition Enterprise and has won it in 2010, 2014 & 2016
• was UK OLC champion in 2011, 2013, 2014 & 2015
• holds two UK speed records and three UK distance records
• has developed software to help with doing soaring forecasts
• does the Lasham Weather soaring forecasts
